Lost Last Month

OJ Simpson's freedom, after a jury convicts him of armed robbery and kidnapping, 13-years-to-the-day since he was acquitted of killing his ex-wife and her friend. North Korea's place on the United States' list of state sponsors of terrorism, for reasons beyond comprehension. Perhaps an incalculable number of germs, courtesy of the inaugural Global Handwashing Day. Citigroup's takeover of Wachovia, foiled by a better offer from Wells Fargo. The 2008 World Series Championships, by the Tampa Bay Rays, to the Philadelphia Phillies. The presence of the beluga whale, declared by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to be an endangered species. Russia's financial stability, as evidenced by several trading halts on their main exchanges. One vote for John McCain, and party loyalty, when former Secretary of State Colin Powell endorses Barack Obama for President.
