PARKER (1852–):  Lawyer and jurist; Surrogate Ulster County, 1877-85; Justice Supreme Court, 1885-97, serving from 1889 to 1893 as Associate Judge Court of Appeals, Second Division; Chief Judge Court of Appeals, 1897-1904, when he resigned to accept the nomination of the Democratic Party as its candidate for President of the United States; President of American Bar Association, 1906.
